Move Management Asset Removal’s work with Wolverhampton Council and the City of Wolverhampton College’s £8.1million Training Facility…
Move Management Asset Removals Ltd was proud to be awarded the Wolverhampton City Council 2024 tender for one of the region’s most high-profile education projects: the relocation of City of Wolverhampton College’s Engineering and Motor Vehicle Departments to a new, purpose-built home.
This project marked the opening of the College’s brand-new, £8.1 million Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre (ATAC) on Wellington Road – a major investment in skills, innovation, and the future workforce of the West Midlands. We were delighted to play a key part in delivering this next chapter in the College’s development.
A Complex, Multi-Phased Move
Spanning over 2 months, the relocation involved a comprehensive and carefully sequenced programme of works, planned in alignment with a range of key partners including:
- Turner & Townsend – the refurbishment contractor
- Machinery manufacturers delivering new specialist equipment
- College staff and academic teams, all working to tight term-time deadlines
With 3 dedicated Move Management teams on site, we ensured each aspect of the move ran smoothly – from high-value industrial equipment to classroom resources.
What We Delivered
- Specialist relocation of heavy machinery – with our partners MTC, including engineering lathes, car ramps, and technical equipment from the Motor Vehicle Department
- Electrics and installation of new machinery arriving directly from manufacturers
- Full logistics support for the movement of furniture, crates, and educational resources
- Co-ordination with on-site contractors, ensuring works progressed safely and to schedule
- Set-up at the new ATAC site, ensuring everything was operational for the student intake in September 2024
Clearing the Old Site
Once the relocation was complete, the College tasked us with managing the clearance of the former Paget Road campus. This included:
- Identifying equipment for resale or reuse, maximising environmental sustainability
- Facilitating recycling of non-reusable items
- Delivering a financial return to the College through the sale of redundant assets
We successfully rehomed all types of machinery, including large laser cutting machines, a car body alignment jig, and a mechanics spray booth and mixing rooms. Our approach ensured that the clearance aligned with the College’s sustainability goals and budget priorities.
Client Feedback
“Worked with Laura and the team on a job in Wolverhampton. They were efficient, hardworking, and always ensured they worked alongside the client on a difficult job. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Move Management again.”
— Rachel Toor, Project Manager, City of Wolverhampton College
This project wasn’t just a move—it was the foundation for a forward-thinking, industry-aligned training centre that will support hundreds of learners and apprentices in the coming years. We’re proud to have contributed to such a significant development for Wolverhampton and the wider region.
